UPDATE – OCTOBER 26, 2021: COVID-19 ALERT LEVEL 2 EVENT AUDIENCE NUMBERS INCREASED
In October, the Government updated the guideline regarding the maximum number of people attending indoor events at venues like Baycourt Community & Arts Centre during Covid-19 Alert Level 2 (Delta).
Under the new Alert Level 2 (Delta) guideline, the previous 100-person maximum limit has been removed and there is now no restriction on how many people can attend events at indoor venues – providing there is a one metre gap between individuals or groups while seated.
Since the October announcement we have been working hard behind the scenes to translate the new rules around Alert Level 2 audience numbers into a Baycourt context. The good news is we are now able to increase our capacity in the Addison Theatre above the previous 100-person limit. Whilst we're not back to full capacity due to the one metre distance rule, we are definitely moving in the right direction.
To maximise audience numbers, Baycourt has modified our seating layout in the Addison Theatre to safely allow for one metre physical distancing between audience members. To accommodate this much needed lift in available seats, tickets must now be purchased in groups of 2, 3, 4 or 5 so that we can maximise our seated capacity based on the layout of our specific venue. Please note that this configuration only applies under the current Alert Level 2 guidelines.
You will also be aware that the Government has agreed to introduce vaccine certificates in Aotearoa New Zealand for events venues like Baycourt. Once details regarding vaccine passports are confirmed and finalised by the Government, we will be able to share more information with our community.
Baycourt reviews its Covid-19 operating procedures regularly and will keep our community up to date with plans as they evolve.
And as always, we truly appreciate our community’s patience, kindness and support as we navigate our way through this tricky time for Aotearoa New Zealand.
Ngā mihi nui,
Baycourt manager Reena Snook
