The Friends of Baycourt is an incorporated society which was formed to assist Baycourt Community Arts Centre in its endeavour to support the cultural development of the Tauranga community.
They formed in 1984 from the community group that lobbied for the Baycourt Community and Arts Centre to be built and became an incorporated society in 1997.
Since its inception Friends of Baycourt has donated over $192,000 worth of equipment to Baycourt Community and Arts Centre.
Those lucky enough to live in Tauranga are fortunate to have a facility such as Baycourt. It’s not just a beautiful building, but an institution, bringing to the people of this area a richness of interest and activity in the arts, which those who live at a distance from main centres much appreciate.

News
Our AGM, held on the 30th September, 2023, has provided our Committee with the opportunity to initiate a focus group to ‘review and reset’ our Friends programme for the benefit of our members, the community and Baycourt. However, this will take some time to set-up and we are seeking any feedback, comments and ideas which the group will consider towards the reinvention of the Friends programme. You can also volunteer to participate in the focus group meeting in February 2024 (day tba). Read the AGM minutes from 30 September 2023 (5mb pdf)
