Escape is Tauranga’s much-anticipated bi-ennial readers' and writers’ festival, affectionately dubbed "the little festival with big ideas". Our boutique festival celebrates ideas, thinkers, writers and storytelling with a packed programme of literary talks, panel discussions, workshops, and live performance across three days.

Below are the shows that Baycourt is playing host to along with those that are just down the hill at the Cargo Shed.

If you'd like to check out all the Escape Festival events please have a look at the full programme.

Join us for a memorable morning tea with a national treasure. When beloved broadcaster Judy Bailey signed off her final news bulletin in 2005, she had no idea that the next years would be some of the most fulfilling of her life. In her book, Evolving, Judy shares science and personal stories that have shaped her own path into older age. She tackles subjects like taking care of your body and mind through organising finances, navigating health scares, grieving loved ones and enjoying the finer things. In conversation with Sandra Simpson, Judy reflects on her inspirational journey and shares an informative take on embracing our next stage in life.

Our delicious morning tea is catered by friends of the Festival and star caterers, Hereford Kitchen. Take the morning off – and move quickly! Spaces are limited.

If you have a particular dietary requirement, please contact info@taurangafestival.co.nz by Friday 11th October.
