Escape is Tauranga’s much-anticipated bi-ennial readers' and writers’ festival, affectionately dubbed "the little festival with big ideas". Our boutique festival celebrates ideas, thinkers, writers and storytelling with a packed programme of literary talks, panel discussions, workshops, and live performance across three days.

Below are the shows that Baycourt is playing host to along with those that are just down the hill at the Cargo Shed.

If you'd like to check out all the Escape Festival events please have a look at the full programme.

We are back with another fun-filled Zine celebration! Tauranga Zinefest is a free, highly visual, community event celebrating zineculture —  pronounced “zeen”, zines are small, short-run, self-published, (maga)zines, covering a range of topics.

We provide a safe, independent platform of expression for everyone and anyone, including Māori and other BIPOC communities, rangatahi, disabled people, the LGBTQIA+ community, and people with limited economic resources.

So bring your best mate, tamariki, heck why not Nanny and Koro too, for an epic day of zines, cartoons, art prints, makers table, zine library and so much more!
