Opus Orchestra invites audiences of all ages into the colourful world of the orchestra with Jeremy Holland-Smith’s “The Caretaker’s Guide to the Orchestra”.

Written for narrator and orchestra, this witty and fast-moving work takes listeners on a journey through the different families of instruments, revealing how strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and more come together to create the thrilling sound of a full orchestra.

Led by conductor Adam Maha, this concert is a warm, playful and accessible introduction to orchestral music. With storytelling, musical surprises and plenty of character, it is perfect for children, families, first-time concertgoers and anyone who wants to hear the orchestra from the inside out.

The programme includes:
Holland-Smith – The Caretaker’s Guide to the Orchestra
Grieg – “Morning” from Peer Gynt Suite No.1
J. Strauss II – Unter Donner und Blitz
Debussy – En Bateau
Sarasate – Introduction and Tarantelle
Piazzolla – Oblivion
Trad (arr Maha) – New Zealand Waiata
