Tumble out of bed, stumble to the kitchen, pour yourself a cup of ambition, then get ready to join us in celebrating the phenomenal life and legacy of the incredible Dolly Parton!
It's all about Dolly at the Village Community Cinema on the afternoon of Sunday the 27 September! We'll be getting warmed up with a few live Dolly songs performed by local music legend Joanne Melbourne, followed by a screening of the iconic film, 9 to 5!
Dolly Parton's first big-screen debut, '9 to 5' is a film ahead of its time, telling the story of three office workers, Judy Bernly (Jane Fonda), Violet Newstead (Lily Tomlin), and Doralee Rhodes (Dolly Parton), as they join forces to overthrow and undermine their tyrannical and misogynistic boss, Franklin Hart Jr (Dabney Coleman).
A 1980's tale of female empowerment to the theme of Dolly's theme song (with her acrylic nails acting as percussion!), this film still delivers with gusto and relevance today.
